Microsoft's Windows 11 2025 update starts rolling out today (but don't expect anything new)

Microsoft's Windows 11 2025 update, also known as Windows 11 25H2, has started rolling out today. However, this update does not bring any major new features or capabilities. Instead, it is an "enablement package" that includes recent features added to last year's 24H2 release. The update is aimed at encouraging users who have not yet adopted the new Windows 11 features to get onboard. It also includes improvements in build and runtime vulnerability detection, as well as AI-assisted secure coding. Additionally, the update will be leaner, as it removes legacy features like PowerShell 2.0 and Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC), which may annoy some power users and IT administrators. Microsoft will be rolling out the update in waves, starting with users who have the 24H2 version and have enabled the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" option in Windows Update. The company has stated that actual new features for the Windows 11 25H2 update will be arriving in the coming months.
