Some goo.gl URLs will live to fight another day

However, the company has now announced that some goo.gl links will continue to work for the foreseeable future. The decision was made after Google received feedback from users who relied on these shortened URLs. The company acknowledged that the links are embedded in countless documents, videos, and posts, and they want to accommodate those who have come to depend on them. Google will keep active the goo.gl links that do not display a warning message indicating they will no longer work in the near future. The survivors were selected based on their activity in late 2024. This represents a change of heart from Google's previous plan to shut down the service completely by 2025.
