ChargePoint’s new megawatt EV chargers could level the playing field with China

ChargePoint, a leading EV charging company, is set to revolutionize the industry with its new megawatt-level charging technology. The company's next-generation DC fast charging architecture will offer up to 3.75 megawatts (3,750 kW) of power, enough to power an entire football stadium. While most EVs on the road can only handle up to 350 kW, ChargePoint is future-proofing its charging infrastructure to accommodate the arrival of higher-powered EVs, particularly those from China, which is leading the way in ultra-fast EV charging. The new ChargePoint Express chargers will be 30% less expensive to install and operate, and have a 30% smaller footprint, making them easier to deploy. The company is partnering with Eaton to develop solutions that can overcome grid constraints, allowing for the installation of these powerful chargers. ChargePoint's goal is to help the U.S. catch up with China in the race for EV charging dominance. By offering a more efficient and cost-effective charging solution, the company aims to maintain EV sales momentum even as federal incentives are phased out.
