Gaborone United ‘break all records’ to put Botswana on world football map

Gaborone United Ladies, a Botswana football team, has made history by becoming the first club from the country to win a regional trophy. The team clinched the Cosafa Women's Champions League Cup after defeating Zambian side Zesco Ndola Girls 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in August. This victory means that Gaborone United Ladies will represent the southern African region at the eight-team CAF Champions League tournament this year, further putting Botswana on the world football map. The achievement comes on the heels of another Botswanan sports star, Letsile Tebogo, who won gold in the 200m event at the Paris Olympics, showcasing the country's growing presence in the global sporting arena.
