Millions of UK mobile phones to receive test emergency alert on Sunday

The UK government is set to conduct a nationwide test of its emergency alert system on Sunday, April 23rd, at 3 PM. The test will involve millions of mobile phones across the country vibrating and emitting a siren sound for 10 seconds. A message will also appear on users' screens confirming that the alert is a test. The purpose of this exercise is to prepare the public for a potential future emergency situation where such a system may be utilized. The UK has approximately 87 million mobile phones, all of which are expected to receive the test alert.
