Microsoft is raising prices on Xbox consoles in the US again

Microsoft is raising the prices of its Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles in the US, effective October 3rd. The Xbox Series X will now cost $649.99, up from $599.99, while the Xbox Series S will be priced at $399.99, up from $379.99. Microsoft cites "changes in the macroeconomic environment" as the reason for the price hikes, which likely refers to tariffs. Prices for Xbox controllers and headsets will remain the same in the US. However, the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X will see a $70 increase, now priced at $799.99. This latest price hike follows a previous increase earlier this year, meaning the Xbox Series X has seen a $150 price increase and the Series S a $100 increase in just six months. The article notes that Microsoft had also planned to increase the price of some of its first-party Xbox games to $80 this holiday season, but later walked back those changes in July.
