European football: Atlético Madrid lose at Espanyol, while Vitinha wins opener for PSG
Atlético Madrid suffered a 2-1 defeat against Espanyol in their La Liga opener. Julián Alvarez scored the opening goal for Atlético with a superb free-kick, but Espanyol came back late in the game with goals from substitutes Miguel Rubio and Pere Milla to secure the victory. In the Ligue 1 opener, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated their opponents 1-0, with midfielder Vitinha scoring the winning goal in the 67th minute. The goal was deflected, but it was enough to secure the three points for the French champions.
