Whistle pet trackers are shutting down next month

Whistle, a pet tracker subsidiary of Mars, is being acquired by Tractive. As a result, Whistle's pet trackers will stop working on August 31, 2025. However, Tractive is offering to replace Whistle trackers for free until September 30, 2025, and will credit pre-paid Whistle subscriptions to new Tractive accounts. Additionally, Tractive will provide two months of a Tractive subscription for free to Whistle tracker owners without an active subscription. Tractive's pet tracking features are similar to Whistle's, but also include health monitoring capabilities like heart rate, respiratory rate, and bark detection. Tractive offers a Basic plan for $108 per year and a Premium plan for $120 per year, which includes additional features like worldwide coverage and GPS data export. Despite the inconvenience of claiming a new tracker and transferring accounts, the acquisition of Whistle by Tractive appears to be a positive outcome for Whistle users, as they will be able to continue using pet tracking and monitoring services.
