Vingegaard wins Vuelta after final stage cancelled amid pro-Palestinian protests in Madrid

The final stage of the Vuelta a España was cancelled due to pro-Palestinian protests in Madrid. Protesters had thrown barricades onto the streets of Gran Vía, where the finish line was located. As a result, the race leader Jonas Vingegaard and the rest of the peloton were forced to turn back, with more than 55km left to race. The Vuelta organisers cited security concerns as the reason for the early termination of the stage and the cancellation of the podium ceremony. Vingegaard was declared the winner of the overall race.
