Records fall as Sifan Hassan and Hailemaryam Kiros win Sydney marathon

In the inaugural Sydney Marathon, which is now part of the World Marathon Majors series, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan set a new race record by winning the women's event with a time of 2:18:22. Meanwhile, in the men's category, Kenyan running great Eliud Kipchoge finished ninth. The other notable performance was by Ethiopian runner Hailemaryam Kiros, who won the men's race with the fastest time ever recorded on Australian soil.
