Arrests after two men stabbed outside Library of Birmingham

Two men have been arrested following a double stabbing outside the Library of Birmingham. Officers were called to Centenary Square in the city centre shortly after 14:30 BST on Thursday, where two men in their 20s were found injured. One man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was in a stable condition, while a second man suffered less serious hand injuries, West Midlands Police said. Two men in their 20s, believed to be known to the victims, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm early on Friday morning, the force added. A police spokesperson said it was being treated as an "isolated incident" and inquiries were continuing. They added it was understood the victims had been involved in an altercation between a group of men in an alleyway nearby. Anyone with more information or footage of the incident has been asked to get in contact. A cordon was erected in Centenary Square following the attack, with officers remaining at the scene.
