DC makes Superman's dad the Man of Steel in this wild new series

Plus a Supergirl and swords-and-sorcery sequel series are on the way Superman's father, Jor-El, is usually depicted as a scientist. (Sometimes he encourages his son to assemble a harem and take over the world.) But in a newly announced Elseworlds comic book series, DC is making Superman's daddy a new version of the Man of Steel with Superman: Father of Tomorrow. The series, which will take place outside of main DC continuity, follows an adult Jor-El after he crash lands in Kansas following the destruction of Krypton. Essentially, it takes Superman's traditional origin and grafts it on to his adult father. "As he adjusts to life on Earth, Jor-El discovers he can help his new home not only with his powers, but with his brilliant mind. This is the story of a Man of Steel and Science—and the world he saves," reads the official description. Superman: Father of Tomorrow launchs on May 27 from writer Kenny Porter and artist Danny Earls.
