Multiple Fallout games are in development With The Elder Scrolls 6 apparently still at least a couple of years away, hearing anything about a potential Fallout 5 from Bethesda seemed highly unlikely. But in a wide-ranging update about the future of the studio, the makers of the post-apocalyptic RPG series revealed that a sequel is actively in the works. That's not all. Fallout 5 is still in early pre-production, Bethesda says. Some fans may also not be thrilled to hear that the next Fallout game will be made in Creation Engine 3. That's the same engine that powered Starfield back in 2023, and the same toolset that Bethesda is using to build The Elder Scrolls 6. In that sense, continuing to use its proprietary tool isn't a shocker. But if Fallout isn't likely until sometime after The Elder Scrolls 6, fans might've hoped that Bethesda would leave Creation Engine 3 behind — or at least, develop a better version of it. Starfield, to its credit, is a much more stable experience than your typical Bethesda release.
