Lying in a hospital bed, 65-year-old Carl Isom-McDaniel has recounted the terrifying bison attack in Yellowstone Park, saying the rampaging animal picked him as its "target". "He just kept coming and he was more aggressive and as soon as he got off that tree he launched me in the air," Isom-McDaniel said in a video shared by Bozeman Health in Montana, the hospital where he underwent surgery. His encounter with the animal on 10 July was captured in a viral video that showed him and his grandson snap a photo of the bison before it hopped to its feet and chased them. A subsequent X-ray of Isom-McDaniel's hip showed it was broken "in multiple pieces". In the roughly three-minute video released by Bozeman Health, Isom-McDaniel reflected on his near-death encounter with the reportedly 2,000lb (900kg) bison. "Even though I was on the ground, he could have stomped me, he could have gored me, he could have done anything," he said. "He wasn't showing aggression or anything like that until it picked a target. That target happened to be me."
