Growing sense of embarrassment at Fifa over Donald Trump peace prize

Fifa, the international football governing body, has faced growing embarrassment among its mid-level and senior officials over the decision to award its peace prize to US President Donald Trump. The award, presented in December, was intended to recognize Trump's efforts towards unity and hope, as stated by Fifa president Gianni Infantino. However, since then, the US has taken actions that contradict the spirit of the award, including launching airstrikes in Venezuela, capturing the country's president, and threatening to invade Greenland. Despite the growing discomfort, Fifa has maintained that it still "strongly" supports the peace prize decision.
