Man dies in lorry crash after car breaks down near Alcester

A pedestrian died after being hit by a HGV lorry while walking towards his broken-down car, police said. Officers were called to the scene on the A46 southbound between Oversley Green and Salford Priors, near Alcester, Warwickshire, shortly before 03:45 BST on Friday. The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died at the scene, according to the Warwickshire force. A 55-year-old man from Cornwall was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
