'Other Mommy' trailer: Yes, the one traumatizing moviegoers ahead of 'The Odyssey'

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has some truly spooky moments. (Team Circe.) But fans who took to theaters this opening weekend were shook by a surprising trailer ahead of the big show. Meet Other Mommy. If you screamed at that jump scare, you're not alone. Jessica Chastain, who's previously starred in such horror gems as Momma and IT: Chapter Two, returns to the genre with a twisted double-turn. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, Other Mommy centers on a little girl named Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), who's formed a disturbing bond with an entity that looks like her mother. Chastain plays both roles, while Jay Duplass lends support as Daddo. Beyond this promising trailer and an enticing adult cast, Other Mommy also boasts intriguing talent behind the scenes. Horror icon James Wan produces for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, while director Rob Savage ( Host, Dashcam, The Boogeyman) takes the helm. From the looks of this trailer, he's primed another scream-rich stunner sure to thrill audiences beyond this impactful trailer. Other Mommy opens in theaters Oct. 9.
