Shamar Elkins, accused of killing eight children in a domestic shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, was a former National Guard member. Police say he fled, carjacked a vehicle and was later killed in a confrontation. Authorities say Shamar Elkins is the suspected shooter in a domestic violence attack that unfolded across multiple locations in Shreveport, Louisiana, early Sunday. Eight children were killed in the attack, and police said seven of the eight are believed to be Elkins’ children. The children ranged in age from about 1 to 14. Police said Elkins also shot the mother of his children, who is expected to survive. Another woman was also shot and is suffering life-threatening injuries, while a teenage victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
