The Department of Homeland Security shutdown reached a record 45 days on Monday as a House bill is sent to the Senate that, if passed, would approve a two-month stopgap spending plan for the entire agency. Meanwhile, Transportation Security Administration agents are beginning to receive emergency pay during the shutdown in the hopes of easing long security lines at airports. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 27th that instructed the Department of Homeland Security to pay TSA officers immediately. Some TSA workers have received a retroactive paycheck Monday. Tens of thousands of TSA employees have been working without pay since DHS funding lapsed on Valentine's Day.
