A US Army staff sergeantâs wife, who was facing deportation after she was detained inside a Louisiana military base, has been released, according to a statement from the family. The effort to remove the soldierâs wife, who was born in Honduras, has drawn backlash from military family advocates who called the detention demoralizing in a time of war and warned that deporting spouses could undermine recruitment. âAll I have ever wanted is to live with dignity in the country I have called home since I was a baby,â Annie Ramos said in a statement after her release.
