The suspect âclearly statedâ he wanted to target administration officials, the White House said. ⢠How events unfolded: President Donald Trump and top officials were rushed to safety after gunfire was heard outside the ballroom at the Washington Hilton. Authorities believe the suspect fired one or two times, according to a law enforcement source. Secret Service agents shot at the suspect but did not hit him before he was taken into custody near a staircase leading to the ballroom, the source said. ⢠Arraignment tomorrow: The suspect has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from California, sources said.
