‘We called ourselves the lifeboat crew’: how fired USAID workers launched a rescue project ‘to save as many babies as we can’

Calling themselves the "lifeboat crew," the former staff members secured new funding for nearly 80 programs, benefiting an estimated 40 million people worldwide. Led by Rob Rosenbaum, a former USAID economist, the group refused to "wallow in misery" and instead took action to ensure that critical aid initiatives could continue despite the government's decision to close the organization down.
