Apple's latest iPad Pro gets a power boost with the new M5 chip

Apple has unveiled its latest 11- and 13-inch iPad Pro models, featuring the company's new M5 chip. While the overall design remains largely unchanged from last year's models, the M5 chip promises significant performance improvements, particularly in graphics and AI processing. The M5 chip utilizes TSMC's 3-nanometer process and offers a 9-core CPU with 3 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, as well as a 10-core GPU with Neural Accelerators. Apple claims the new GPU offers over 4 times the peak compute performance of the previous M4 chip, with a 45% increase in overall graphics performance. Additionally, the iPad Pro supports fast charging, allowing users to reach 50% battery in just 30 minutes with a 60W USB-C power adapter. The devices also feature upgraded connectivity, including support for 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and improved Bluetooth 6 and Thread connectivity. The new iPad Pro models start at $999 for the 11-inch version with 256GB of storage, and $1,299 for the 13-inch model, with the same pricing as last year's models. Preorders are now available, with the devices set to ship on October 22.
