Martin Shkreli has to face claims of copying one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album
Martin Shkreli, the infamous "Pharma Bro," is facing a lawsuit from PleasrDAO, a collective involved in cryptocurrency, NFTs, and digital art. The lawsuit alleges that Shkreli improperly saved copies and played the one-of-a-kind Wu-Tang Clan album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin," which he purchased for $2 million in 2015. The album has a unique ownership history. After Shkreli's fraud conviction, he had to forfeit his assets, including the album, which was later acquired by PleasrDAO at a government auction for $4 million. The album has a condition that it cannot be "commercially exploited for 88 years" by any subsequent owners. PleasrDAO claims that Shkreli admitted in livestreams that he made copies of the album and played it for his followers, which reduced the album's value and exclusivity. If PleasrDAO wins the case, Shkreli will have to give up any copies of the album and provide information on all copies, their distribution, and any profits he made from them.
