HP’s new 49-inch curved ultrawide monitor has a pop-up webcam

HP has announced a new 49-inch curved ultrawide monitor, the HP Series 5 Pro 49-inch Conferencing Monitor, designed for productivity and office use. The monitor features a 32:9 VA IPS panel with a 5120 x 1440 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and an 1800R curvature, equivalent to using two 27-inch displays side by side. The standout feature of this monitor is the hidden 5-megapixel webcam that extends from the top when unlocked. The monitor also includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, Ethernet, and USB ports with KVM functionality, allowing it to act as two or three virtual displays for multi-monitor-like use. While the monitor offers decent brightness and contrast, its 5ms response time and 8-bit color depth make it less suitable for gaming or color-sensitive content creation. The pricing for the Series 5 Pro 49-inch Conferencing Monitor will be revealed closer to its scheduled launch in November.
