Chrome update aims to automatically turn off unwanted notifications

Google Chrome is rolling out a new feature that aims to reduce notification overload by automatically revoking notification permissions for websites that the user hasn't interacted with recently. The feature will be available on both Android and desktop versions of Chrome. When the feature is enabled, Chrome will notify users when a site's notification permissions have been revoked. Users can then re-enable the permissions through Chrome's Safety Check or by manually restarting them from the site. The feature can also be turned off completely if users don't want Chrome to take these actions. According to Google's internal tests, receiving fewer notifications overall made users more likely to engage with the alerts they did receive. Currently, less than 1 percent of all notifications receive any interaction from users.
