Battlefield 6 Open Vs. Closed Weapons Playlists: Here's What The Data Shows

Battlefield 6, the upcoming game in the popular Battlefield franchise, has been a subject of discussion, particularly around the Open and Closed weapons playlists for multiplayer. The developers have opted for an Open weapons setup, where players can choose any weapon, regardless of their class, contrary to the traditional Closed setup where each class had its own exclusive weapons. The beta data suggests that the vast majority of players preferred the Open weapons setup after trying both playlist types. The developers observed only a 1-2% difference in class pick rates between the two setups. Additionally, players in the Open weapons playlist performed slightly better, recording 0.2 more kills per hour in Conquest and 0.1 more kills per hour in Breakthrough. While the developers believe the Open weapons playlist is the right path forward for Battlefield 6, they will still offer a Closed weapons playlist to cater to players who prefer the traditional setup. Battlefield 6 is set to release on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
