Ken Luxon obituary

My brother, Ken Luxon, was a charity worker whose interest in acting developed into a love of storytelling and a fulfilling role as a tour guide in Bath and Bristol. From his teenage years Ken, who has died suddenly aged 66, had enjoyed performing in church and school productions, as well as amateur dramatics societies, and later discovered storytelling, a hobby that turned into a passion as he joined groups and took the opportunity to tell stories in different locations and for every occasion. This led him into the world of tour-guiding, which he took to with gusto – working on the tour buses in Bath to entertain visitors with tales of Regency life. He also played Brunel on the SS Great Britain in Bristol one summer, and did tours of bomb shelters in the city, as well as John Wesley’s New Room, the oldest Methodist building in the world. Born in Hammersmith, west London, Ken was the eldest child of Christine (nee Archer), an adult education tutor, and Alec Luxon, a civil engineer, followed by three sisters.
