Google Home adds scheduling for older Nest thermostats

Google has announced that users of the 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E in the US and UK can now schedule temperature adjustments using the Google Home app. This feature, which began rolling out last week, allows users to manage their older Nest thermostats without the need for the dedicated Nest app. The expanded Google Home support for the older Nest models was originally announced by Google last April, alongside the decision to end software updates for the first and second-generation Nest Learning thermostats. In addition to the scheduling feature, Google has also made other improvements to the Home app for all Nest thermostats, including more vibrant colors, updated device status descriptions, and a refreshed energy dashboard with more detailed information and year-over-year energy usage comparisons.
