Murder arrest after 52-year-old woman dies in Caldicot

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 52-year-old woman. Officers and paramedics were called to a property on Green Lane in Caldicot, Monmouthshire at about 03:00 BST on Thursday after the woman was found unresponsive. A 50-year-old man from Caldicot, who was known to the woman, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in police custody. Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Matthew Clarke of Gwent Police, said the force wanted to "reassure the communities of Caldicot that we are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances surrounding the victim's death". He added they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the death. "Residents may see an increased number of officers in the area as we carry out further enquiries. "We encourage anyone with information to please speak with one of our officers or contact us on the usual channels." Neighbours on Green Lane, in Caldicot, have woken up with police tape and forensic vans outside their houses.
