Amazon’s next-gen Echo and Kindle devices are almost here

Amazon is set to unveil its latest generation of Echo speakers and Kindle devices at an event in New York City on September 30th. The event will feature the new AI assistant Alexa+, which has been gradually rolling out over the past several months. The event will also mark the first full-on Amazon Devices fall showcase since the arrival of Alexa+. Several of Amazon's popular Echo devices, such as the Echo Dot and Echo Show 10, are expected to receive refreshes. The Echo Studio, a high-end Dolby Atmos-capable speaker, is also rumored to be updated. Additionally, Amazon is likely to unveil new Kindle hardware and potentially some updates to its Ring camera lineup. The event will be the first to feature Panos Panay, the former Microsoft executive who took over Amazon's Alexa and Echo divisions in September 2023, replacing outgoing Amazon exec David Limp. Panay has previously hosted a scaled-down Kindle event and the Alexa+ reveal earlier this year. The timing of Amazon's event puts it a day before Google's own showcase of the latest Google Home devices, including new Nest cams and a new smart speaker powered by Gemini.
