Gemini for Home is the official replacement for Google Assistant on smart devices
Google is replacing Google Assistant with Gemini for Home on smart devices starting this month. Gemini for Home will introduce a more conversational and context-aware smart home experience. Users will be able to string multiple requests together, create automations without the Google Home app, and use natural language to interact with their smart home. Gemini will also offer AI-powered features like improved motion detection notifications, the ability to retrieve specific footage using natural language, and a "Home Brief" that summarizes important events captured by smart home cameras. However, some of the advanced Gemini features, such as Gemini Live chat and AI-powered notifications, will require a $10-per-month Google Home Premium subscription. The Gemini for Home update will roll out to Google's smart home devices throughout October.
