Threads now supports group DM

Threads, Meta's social media app, has recently introduced group direct messaging (DM) functionality. Users can now create group chats with up to 50 of their followers. Additionally, Meta is rolling out the messaging feature in the European Union, allowing EU users access to individual and group DMs, messaging controls, privacy settings, and support for media files. The article highlights that messaging has been the top requested feature since Threads' launch, but it took some time to release due to it not being a priority in the early days. Since the introduction of DMs in July, Meta has added support for photos, videos, GIFs, a messaging requests folder, and a privacy setting to control message requests from non-followers. The article also notes that Meta's Head of Product for Threads, Emily Dalton Smith, has stated that Threads is "on track to become Meta's next major app" with 400 million monthly active users.
