From Washington: "A Plague on Our Democracy"... Why One Congressman Just Went Independent

An exodus from Congress ahead of the 2026 midterms is leaving many House and Senate seats open this fall. California Congressman Kevin Kiley is fighting to keep his seat, though he will no longer be doing so as a Republican. Kiley switched his party affiliation to independent, he says, due in part to political gerrymandering in the Golden State. Representative Kevin Kiley joins the Rundown to discuss his decision to leave the GOP, his legislative focus on lowering California’s high cost of living, and his proposal for a nationwide independent redistricting commission paired with voter ID laws. Plus, FOX Business Network anchor Gerri Willis joins to discuss what a Senate bill to limit institutional home buying could mean for the market, current housing trends, and how rising energy costs are impacting the industry.
