Female athletes have faster reaction times on day they ovulate, study finds

A study conducted by researchers at University College London has found that female athletes have faster reaction times and make fewer mistakes on the day they ovulate. The study involved 54 women aged 18 to 40 who were not using hormone-based contraception and were grouped based on their level of physical activity. The researchers observed an 80-millisecond difference in reaction times, which is considered a significant difference at the elite level of sports. The findings suggest that the menstrual cycle and hormonal fluctuations can influence brain function and performance in female athletes.
