Keychron made the first almost entirely ceramic keyboard

Keychron, a Chinese mechanical keyboard specialist, has introduced the Q16 HE 8K, the "first-to-market full-ceramic build keyboard." The keyboard features a 65% layout, available in blue or minty white color options, and is being launched through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, with an estimated delivery date of November 2025. The Q16 HE 8K boasts a distinct tactile and auditory profile, thanks to its all-ceramic build, which is described as durable, scratch-resistant, and suitable for day-to-day use. It also includes Keychron's custom Ultra-Fast Lime switches, which utilize Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, providing faster and more precise inputs compared to traditional Hall effect switches. The keyboard offers an 8,000Hz polling rate and adjustable actuation sensitivity up to 0.01mm, allowing users to personalize their controls. Keychron's operations head, Paul Tan, emphasized the company's goal of creating "great keyboards that feel fast, sound great, and look like objects worth keeping," with the Q16 HE 8K as an exploration of ceramic for everyday use, combined with advanced magnetic sensing and high-performance features.
