Apple's new Vision Pro gets an M5 chip and Dual Knit Band, but it's still $3,499

Apple has unveiled an upgraded version of its Vision Pro headset, now powered by the company's latest M5 chip. The new model boasts improved performance, with faster app loading, web browsing, and enhanced visual capabilities due to the M5's upgraded graphics processing unit. Apple claims the M5 Vision Pro can render 10% more pixels on its micro-OLED displays, resulting in sharper image quality. The upgraded headset also features a new Dual Knit Band, which adds a top strap for improved comfort and security. Despite the hardware improvements, Apple has maintained the $3,499 price tag for the 256GB storage model. The M5 Vision Pro is expected to offer longer battery life, with up to two and a half hours of typical usage and three hours of video playback, a slight improvement over the previous model. However, the Vision Pro remains a niche product, primarily targeting developers and early adopters, as Apple continues to work on more consumer-friendly smart glasses and display-equipped models for the future.
