Microsoft adds Claude models to Copilot 365
Microsoft has announced the integration of Anthropic's AI models, including the Claude Opus 4.1, into its Microsoft 365 Copilot. This integration is currently in the beta testing phase, with the Copilot Researcher and agent development tool being the first to incorporate the Anthropic models. While OpenAI's models, such as GPT-5, still power most of Copilot, the addition of Anthropic's models is intended to enhance the capabilities of the Copilot Researcher and the Copilot Studio, Microsoft's AI agent development tool. Users can now choose between OpenAI and Anthropic models through a dropdown menu in the Copilot Studio. The integration of Anthropic's models is being rolled out through Microsoft's Frontier program, which is an optional beta program for AI previews. Users will need to opt-in to use the Anthropic models, and the broader public release is expected to follow later. Microsoft has stated that the Anthropic integration is just the beginning, and that users can expect even more powerful experiences with the Anthropic models within the Microsoft 365 Copilot in the future.
