Amazon releases a new Kindle Colorsoft model that’s now cheaper

Amazon has released two new Kindle Colorsoft models, offering a cheaper alternative to their original Colorsoft e-reader. The ad-free 16GB Kindle Colorsoft is priced at $249.99, while the Kindle Colorsoft Kids, which includes a 2-year worry-free guarantee and 12 months of Amazon Kids+, costs $269.99. The new models feature the same 7-inch glare-free display with 300 PPI black-and-white resolution and 150 PPI color resolution as the original Colorsoft. However, they come with half the storage space (16GB instead of 32GB) and lack the automatically adjustable front light and wireless charging capabilities of the original. Amazon seems to be targeting avid comic book, manga, and graphic novel readers, as well as young readers, with these new Colorsoft models, offering a more affordable option while making color reading more accessible. The trade-offs in storage and features may be a concern for some users, but the price difference could be a significant factor in their decision.
