Apple asks judge to toss Musk’s lawsuit over ChatGPT on iPhone

Apple has strongly refuted Elon Musk's lawsuit over its partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into the iPhone. In court documents, Apple's lawyers have asked a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit, calling Musk's claims of harm to the AI industry competition as "speculation on top of speculation." Apple's lawyers argue that the agreement with OpenAI is not exclusive, and that Apple intends to partner with other generative AI chatbots as well. They also assert that competition law does not require Apple to simultaneously partner with every AI chatbot on the market, regardless of their quality. The lawsuit, filed by Musk's companies xAI and X Corp, had accused Apple of rigging App Store rankings against chatbots and apps competing with OpenAI, including Grok and X. However, Apple's lawyers maintain that Musk's companies have failed to provide any plausible evidence to support their allegations.
