Mars Orbiter Captures Rare Images of Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS
NASA's Mars Orbiter has captured rare images of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, the third object from beyond our solar system to be observed from Earth. The comet, which is estimated to be just a few kilometers in size, was spotted by the European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter as it passed near the Red Planet. The images provide a unique perspective of the comet, which is only the third known interstellar object to enter our solar system after 'Oumuamua in 2017 and 2I/Borisov in 2019. The data collected by the Mars Express orbiter could help scientists better understand the composition and origin of this celestial visitor from beyond our solar system. The successful observation of 3I/ATLAS demonstrates the capabilities of Mars-based instruments to study interstellar objects, which are rare and provide valuable insights into the formation and evolution of our solar system and the wider universe.
