NordVPN bids farewell to its Meshnet feature—what you need to know

NordVPN is discontinuing its Meshnet feature, which allowed secure file-sharing and LAN-style connections between devices. The service will be shut down on December 1, 2025, but all other NordVPN features and services will remain unaffected. NordVPN introduced Meshnet in 2022, but it never gained widespread adoption. The company says that while a small group of users valued the feature, it required significant ongoing resources, and they now plan to redirect those resources to more popular services. For users who were relying on Meshnet for secure file-sharing, NordVPN recommends its NordLocker service, which offers a free 3GB plan and paid plans starting at $2.99 per month. Alternatively, ProtonVPN's Proton Drive service could be a viable option, with a free 5GB starter plan. Despite the discontinuation of Meshnet, NordVPN remains a top choice for VPN services, known for its fast speeds, ability to access streaming sites, and excellent security features.
