Evening Edition: China Is Ripping Off U.S. AI Companies And It's A National Security Threat

Companies like ‘Anthropic’ and ‘OpenAI’ are warning Congress that China is stealing their cutting-edge AI to produce cheaper, open-source chatbots. The U.S. firm alleges ‘DeepSeek’, ‘Moonshot AI’ and ‘MiniMax’ are using ‘distillation’ attacks to generate more than 16 million exchanges with ‘Anthropic’s Claude’ chatbot in a coordinated campaign designed to extract high-value model outputs which is cutting into the U.S.’s thin lead in AI development. Meanwhile, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul has put a one year moratorium on building ‘hyperscale’ data centers in her state.
