‘It’s queer, Black joy’: the TikTok creator quizzing pop stars and politicians on LGBTQ+ culture

Anania Williams, a 25-year-old genderqueer, Black artist, has found success in various creative pursuits, including comedic TikTok videos, hosting the viral entertainment-education show Gaydar, and performing in musical theater productions. Williams, who uses they/she pronouns, has amassed over 2.8 million followers across their social media platforms and used their platform to showcase their diverse talents and celebrate queer, Black joy. Their latest project is a role in the new musical "Saturday Church" at the New York Theatre Workshop, which delves into the world of a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ youth. Williams describes the play as a "feelgood musical" that celebrates queer, Black joy and delivers a beautiful message.
