Apple sidelines lighter Vision Pro to prioritize smart glasses

Apple is prioritizing the development of its smart glasses over the lighter Vision Pro headset, according to a Bloomberg report. The company is working on at least two versions of the smart glasses: one without a display, which could be revealed next year and launched in 2027, and another with a display, originally planned for 2028, that the company wants to "accelerate development" on. These glasses will have features similar to Meta's smart glasses, including speakers, cameras, and multiple styles, and will rely heavily on voice interaction and artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Apple has scaled back production of the original Vision Pro headset, but a new, "modest refresh" version could launch as early as the end of this year.
