Netflix Announces Catan Projects Based On The Hit Board Game

Netflix has announced that it is developing a slate of scripted and unscripted projects based on the popular board game Catan. The game, created by the late Klaus Teuber in 1995, has sold 45 million units worldwide and is considered a gateway to modern board gaming. Teuber's sons, Guido and Benjamin Teuber, will be involved in these projects. Asmodee CEO Thomas Koegler expressed excitement about the game's expansion to a larger audience, stating that board gaming is a popular form of entertainment in everyone's homes. The adaptation of Catan is part of a growing trend of video game and tabletop gaming IP adaptations, with Netflix and other streaming services acquiring licenses for various properties, including Castlevania, Arcane, Devil May Cry, and Exploding Kittens, as well as Amazon's Fallout TV series and upcoming projects like God of War, Wolfenstein, Mass Effect, and Warhammer 40K.
