Labrador rescued after âeating discarded cannabisâ on Ben Nevis hike

Owner Christina Bluhme feared the worst after Tokyo began to lose consciousness while climbing the UKâs tallest mountain A dog has been rescued from Ben Nevis after falling ill from eating cannabis discarded on the mountain trail. Christina Bluhme was halfway up the UKâs highest mountain last weekend when her black labrador, Tokyo, lost the use of her legs and began drifting in and out of consciousness. Lochaber mountain rescue team stretchered an unconscious Tokyo down from the 4,413ft (1,345 metre) peak to a local vet. Bluhme said the dog made a full recovery the following day and that vets believe she ingested cannabis left on the trail, the BBC reported. The dog trainer, from Esher, Surrey, described the experience during a trip to Scotland as âone of the most frightening days Iâve ever experiencedâ, adding: âI genuinely thought I was going to lose her.â She said: âWithout the incredible Lochaber mountain rescue team, there is simply no way I could have got her safely off the mountain. âCarrying a 25kg labrador down Ben Nevis was impossible on my own.â Bluhme said she felt âincredibly luckyâ that Tokyo had survived and thanked the rescue crew and vet tea
