World’s first ‘Mini SSD’ is as small as a microSD card but 3x faster
Chinese company Biwin has unveiled the world's first "Mini SSD," a compact storage drive that measures only slightly larger than a microSD card but boasts impressive data transfer speeds. The Mini SSD measures 15mm x 17mm x 1.4mm and can deliver up to 3,700 MB/s read and 3,400 MB/s write speeds through a PCIe 4×2 connection, making it nearly 3 times faster than traditional microSD cards. The Mini SSD is also IP68-rated, making it resistant to water and dust, and it can withstand drops from a height of 3 meters. The device uses a SIM-like slot with a slide-out tray, making it suitable for use in laptops, mobile devices, cameras, and more. While the price and launch date are not yet known, the Mini SSD is already being incorporated into two Chinese handheld gaming computers, the GPD Win 5 and the OneXPlayer Super X.
