Microsoft 365 Premium aims to deliver more AI value than ChatGPT Plus
Microsoft is introducing a new subscription plan called Microsoft 365 Premium, which costs $20 per month. This plan bundles the company's standard Office productivity suite with access to OpenAI's latest models and extended AI usage limits. Microsoft positions this plan as more valuable than OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus, which also costs $20 per month but doesn't include Office apps or 1TB of OneDrive storage. The company is not changing the pricing of its existing $10 MS 365 Personal and $13 MS 365 Family plans, but it is increasing the price of its GamePass Ultimate subscription to $30 per month. The Microsoft 365 Premium plan simplifies the company's offerings, as users of the cheaper MS 365 plans would previously need to pay an additional $20 per month for the Copilot Pro subscription to access higher AI usage limits. Copilot Pro is no longer available for purchase, but existing subscribers can continue using it. Microsoft 365 Premium will provide users with access to GPT-5 and GPT-4, as well as AI agents like Actions, Researcher, and Analyst. This is comparable to OpenAI's ChatGPT Agent, but Microsoft 365 Premium users will not have access to OpenAI's custom GPTs or Sora video generation.
