Qualcomm declares “full victory” in legal battle with Arm

Qualcomm has declared a "full victory" in its ongoing legal battle with Arm. The judge has dismissed the remaining claim outstanding between the two companies in Arm's suit. Qualcomm had previously sued Arm for breach of contract and interference with customer relationships, and the trial for that case is expected to kick off in March 2026. The litigation stemmed from Qualcomm's agreement to purchase Nuvia in 2021, which would give Qualcomm access to a team of engineers that the company hoped would improve its Snapdragon 8-series chips. Arm sued Qualcomm in 2022, arguing that the company, via Nuvia, was illegally using Arm's intellectual property. In October 2024, Arm notified Qualcomm that it would terminate its architectural license. The matter went to court, and a district judge ruled in favor of Qualcomm on all counts, save one: whether Nuvia had breached the architectural license that Arm had granted it. A judge in a Delaware district court has now found in favor of Qualcomm, resolving the case. Qualcomm's general counsel, Ann Chaplin, called the decision a "full and final judgment."
